Communities of Practice (CoP)

Communities of practice (CoP) are groups of people who share a concern, a set of problems, or a passion about a topic, and who deepen their knowledge and expertise in this area by interacting on an ongoing basis. In a nutshell communities of practice are groups of people who share a concern or a passion for something they do and learn how to do it better as they interact regularly.

Benefits - Communities of practice have both short- and long-term value to organizations and members, including:

access to expertise, and better able to contribute expertise
more meaningful participation, sense of belonging
creates national voice among local or regional participants

The National Breakthrough Network is a CoP that is convened and facilitated by VisionLink so that peers learn from one another by sharing best practices and lessons learned.
